Yesterday, four exceptional Year 10 Physics students travelled to St Helen’s for the annual tournament where they take on three separate physics challenges: carrying out an A Level practical where accuracy and care is essential, racing the clock to solve a range of problems in a physics escape room and find the code to break out, and finally racing against other competitors in an equations race as the final test of their mathematical skills and composure.

“Yesterday we competed in the St Helens Physics Tournament. Although we didn’t come away with the win, it was an incredible experience. Seeing physics applied at such a high level was both inspiring and exciting, and it challenged us to think in new ways. Most importantly, we had a great time working together as a team, tackling tough problems and supporting each other throughout the day. A huge thank you to the organisers and everyone involved for such a brilliant event!”
A brilliant day to raise the profile of Physics, with 20 all-girls teams competing, followed by a final talk exploring future careers in STEAM and engineering.
