Transformational Bursaries

As one of London’s leading independent schools for girls, we are determined to ensure that the
make-up of our School reflects that of this great city and the world beyond. We are committed to widening access to Francis Holland School, Sloane Square and to supporting social mobility by offering an outstanding education to those who have the potential to succeed, but not the means.

We are delighted to announce that Francis Holland School, Sloane Square has been shortlisted in the 2023 IDPE (Institute of Development Professionals in Education) Development Awards for the ambition and progress of its Promise Campaign.

The judges were impressed by the campaign’s aim to raise £15,000,000 to double our current bursary provision by 2032 and enable 50 girls to benefit at any one time.

The Promise Campaign was born out of our commitment to widen access to FHS for talented girls who show great potential yet lack the means to consider this pathway. It asks donors to promise a donation to help our bursary students fulfil their unique promise. In turn, the school offers the promise of a transformational education. Recipients’ places will be funded out of endowment, ensuring this commitment will continue ad infinitum, and they will be called Foundation Scholars in celebration of their individual contribution. The campaign’s success has surpassed all expectations, with our ambitious first-year target of £750,000 surpassed by a fantastic total of £950,000 raised, well past our expectations. 34% of parents are now donating to support bursaries, a considerable uplift from 14% the previous year. This extraordinary increase in support and participation is testament to the to the generosity of the Francis Holland School community and the work of our fantastic Development Director, Tom Robertson.

The Hardship Fund helps cover school fees (or a % of fees) to the end of the current academic year, ensuring that no pupil is removed from school due to an unexpected change in their family’s financial circumstances. We rely on the generosity of the FHS community to support this vital fund and help us provide assistance when it is needed most. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
