The Sleepover on Tuesday night was advertised as ‘The event of the century’ and, frankly, it did not disappoint.

We were greeted at 7.30pm in the OSH by our amazing chaperones for the evening: Mrs Ramage, Mrs Wood, and Ms Vickery. The Heads of Sixth Form were also present; however, after 7 years of being taught how to construct a persuasive argument, we were unsuccessful in our attempts at getting Mrs Wilkes and Mrs Banks to stay the night. Everyone, including the teachers, came dressed for the party: in our brand new FHS sweatpants and leavers hoodies.

The evening kicked off with multiple rounds of Just Dance, where the Upper Sixth immersed themselves in air punches and pirouettes (style may have been somewhat lacking but hilarity levels were phenomenal). As the room got hotter, we decided to start the karaoke round. The choir carried us through The Climb by Miley Cyrus, and You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift; however a collective favourite was Helena and Lily’s duet of SOS by ABBA.

Sadly, at around 10.30, we lost about half the party as not everyone had decided to stay the night. After trying to avoid setting off the sensor lights around the building, many cups of hot chocolate, and being told to go to bed at least 15 times by our chaperones, everyone eventually fell asleep.

From the sore necks and crazy hair that we awoke to on Wednesday morning, I now understand why Francis Holland operates as a day school, and not as a boarding school! A huge thank you again to Mrs Ramage, Mrs Wood, Ms Vickery, and Heather for all looking after us and for ensuring we had a great time.

This certainly will be a fond memory for life and a fantastic way to commemorate our time at FHS, as well as looking forward to becoming members of the alumni community, as we prepare to leave School at the end of this week.
