This week we were pleased to welcome Cynthia Shanmugalingam, a British Sri Lankan chef who came to speak to the Lower Sixth. Cynthia owns her very own restaurant, Rambutan, in Borough Market. Cynthia gave us her biggest career tips including not being afraid to ask for help and being your most confident and unique self. She also emphasised how you can still be successful without being fully sure what you would like to do at this stage. We were interested with the different facets of Cynthia’s job as it covers so many areas from creativity and design, to maths and business, to communication and management. Cynthia told us about her cookbook and many of us were curious of her recipes and favourite dishes as well as the day-to-day life in the restaurant. We thank Cynthia for coming to talk to us and answering all of our avid questions, and I’m hoping to visit the restaurant soon!
