We are so blessed at FHS to have such swathes of musical talent from Year 7 to Year 13, and Thursday night’s Lower School Concert was the perfect occasion to celebrate the School’s youngest maestros. With the Senior Hall packed to the brim with a buzzing audience, the Concert kicked off with electric performances of Bon Jovi’s rock classic Livin’ on a Prayer and Stevie Wonder’s joyful Signed, Sealed, Delivered from our Pop and Rock Band, conducted by FHS’ very own rock virtuoso Mr Moore. Thus followed a wonderful programme highlighting our younger students’ talents, including pieces from our Steel Pan Group, Lower School Choir, Lower Chamber Choir, Jazz Vocal Group and Staff Choir. Special mention must go to the concert’s featured musicians who performed duets or solos:

Year 7

  • Helena Glover – Piano Solo
  • Gabrielle Hirsch and Ellie Laslop – Piano Duet

Year 8

  • Helena Beausang-Hunter – Violin Solo

Year 9

  • Giuditta De Simone Niquesa – Vocal Solo
  • Lucia Cook and Allegra Clement-Davies – Vocal Duet
  • Carlotta Catanese and Sophia Fischer-Appelt Bauen – Instrumental Duet

As Mrs Elphinstone aptly put at the end of the Concert, it is always so important to celebrate students in the School at every stage in their musical journey, from those starting out to our most accomplished performers. Congratulations to all who performed and thank you as always to our Music Department for another wonderful evening of music. We look forward to the Spring Concert in a month’s time.
