It has been a busy week at FHS with plenty of focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) during our Science Week. The topic this year was “Time”.

Year 7s started the week answering a questionnaire that will be placed in a time capsule, not be be opened until 2030, their final year at FHS.  We have had a construction challenge to try to build something that takes 9s to fall to the floor. We have had students running all over the school collecting clues for our date-themed scavenger hunt. Dissection Club also enjoyed a lunchtime brain-dissection session to celebrate Science Week. There have also been 2 very-well attended talks. Dr Upcott gave a lunchtime lecture on How to Time Travel and that was followed by a fantastic talk a about the work carried out by the McLaren F1 team. And to end the week, the playground takeover to raise money for Mvumi with cake sale, time-themed games, demos and even the opportunity to pie a teacher!
