On Thursday, Year 2 braved the weather on their trip to The Tower of London to learn all about The Gunpowder Plot. They learnt about Guy Fawkes’ and Robert Catesby’s roles in the plot and why they ended up at The Tower of London. They re-enacted parts of the plot around the castle, including being chased from the cellars in The Houses of Parliament on horseback!

After this, they were able to explore the rest of the Tower, including climbing the 247 steps in The White Tower, learning the gruesome history of The Bloody Tower and looking at prisoners’ graffiti on the walls that was hundreds of years old.

A great day out was had by all, and we were very impressed by their excellent attitudes and perseverance, even in the cold! Well done Year 2.
