We came together last Friday afternoon to celebrate a wonderful year group. Families, friends and teachers of Year 11 gathered in St Mary’s Church, Bourne Street, to reflect upon the girls’ journey, as well as celebrating their countless extraordinary achievements.

We were treated to a celebration of sport this year, brilliant drama and wonderful music performances by the girls, all of which were testament to the amazing talents of the year group. After the main event – the awarding of prizes by our Head, Mrs Haydon – the celebration came to a crescendo with a belting performance of One Direction’s ‘History’ by the entirety of Year 11. It was so wonderful to recognise the phenomenal achievements of our pupils, but even more so to witness the strength and spirit of our FHS community, and the genuine enthusiasm with which its members congratulated each other.

These girls are an absolute credit to FHS and truly epitomise everything we stand for. The whole year group have made a contribution to the School, be it on the sports pitch, in the art studio, on stage or in the classroom. Most importantly they have always looked out for each other, whether they’re helping put up tents in the Lake District, encouraging each other to swing from high ropes in Morzine, or simply quietly checking in with their peers. The strength of character demonstrated by the girls in their time at school truly demonstrates those FHS qualities of grit and resilience, and they have been so creative in making the most of their time here.

We are enormously proud of every single one of them, we wish them the very best of luck for their upcoming GCSEs, and we look forward to welcoming them back for the next exciting chapter of their education. Thank you so much to all who came to support them – we’re already looking forward to our UVI Leavers’ Service and Reception this Friday.
