Our amazing Head of History, Miss Boon, continues her fascinating History Lecture Series this half term. They take place on Wednesday evenings and led with amazing insight. What you may not know about Miss Boon is that she is a fantastic musician, with a love of high-quality choral music. She delivered a talk on Wednesday all about the British Renaissance composer, Thomas Tallis. Miss Boon is the person to speak to about Tallis’ music, faith and interesting life.

However, for a little insight, there is an amazing show on BBC Sounds here which will tell you more.

For the main centrepiece, Tallis was writing in a great time for British music and while orchestras and choirs were not the largest then, he sometimes wanted to show off. This is where Spem in Alium comes in – a 40(!) part choir piece that washes you with so much glorious sound. Enjoy!
