The Classics Department has been learning creatively this week, with pupils in Year 10 Classical Civilisation producing some outstanding 3D models of the Colosseum, the famous amphitheatre in Rome where citizens watched gladiators and animals fight for their entertainment. The Year 10 pupils produced a range of Colossea in different media: one model was assembled from wire and clay, another from salt dough, and one in cake form. Two pupils even produced digital models by using Minecraft on their phones. As well as making their models fun (and delicious in the case of the cake), the Year 10s also included architectural and historical details from what they have studied at school. This fabulous display of technical expertise and craftsmanship demonstrates that Classics at FHS is not stuck in the first century AD!
