The exclusive and private lecture at Tate Modern for alumni explored the life and works of Cézanne.

Francis Holland School, Sloane Square Alumni Association’s most recent event took place this morning at Tate Modern, when this time the invitation was extended to parents, and History of Art A Level pupils, as well as FHS alumni.

Guests arrived at Tate Modern’s Starr Cinema for a private and exclusive lecture about Cézanne’s extraordinary legacy, exploring his diverse and expansive works, seeking to understand the artist as a young painter in the south of France, through to his struggles in gaining the recognition and fame he sought in the country’s capital.

Continuing on into the exhibition itself, guests absorbed themselves in Cézanne’s most celebrated works, juxtaposed alongside many works shown for the first time in the UK. Guests spoke of their enjoyment of the lecture and, following on, appreciating the works of Cézanne in context.

A special thank you to our alumni community, some for whom this was their first alumni event, parents and pupils and staff for their support.
