On Wednesday Years 1, 2 and 3 spent the day having fun in the sunshine on their final Francis Holland Foresters’ trip of the year to Norbury Park. Year 1 channelled their topic on ‘Pirates’, making their own pirate hats out of natural materials, followed by their own “Pirate Parade” which ended in each of them walking the plank into an ocean of sharks. They also played pirate games and went on a pirate themed nature scavenger hunt. Year 2 spent the day delving into their class text, ‘The Zebra’s Great Escape’. They made their own animal masks out of natural materials based on the characters of the text. In the afternoon they went on an animal track hunt, looking for animal prints and hoping to find the missing Zebras!

Year 3 had a cross curricular day, combining their history topic of Sir Hans Sloane with some fine art. They created their own versions of his botanical work, collecting and identifying natural resources and sketching them, complete with labels and notes about what they had found. In the afternoon they had a nature themed maths lesson, creating their own natural clocks and finding angles in trees and fallen branches.

All the classes enjoyed some (slightly melted!) ice-lollies, and played in the forest, climbing trees and building dens. A great day out was had by all, and all of the girls should be proud of themselves for their resilience, teamwork and communication.
