On Thursday, the Lower Sixth Politics students spent the afternoon on a trip to Parliament.

We were given a tour of the whole building and a detailed history combining fun facts and modern-day examples such as stories of MPs. We started off in Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the Houses of Parliament and we also had a chance to watch part of the House of Lords and the House of Commons being in session. It was a great way for the Politics students to take their learning outside of the classroom and see real-life examples of concepts we have been learning about throughout our course.

After receiving a full tour of Parliament, we also participated in an engaging workshop on laws and legislation. We then acted our own version of presenting a bill to the House of Commons and learned more about the process bills have to go through in order for them to become law. It was a great way to expand our knowledge and learn in a different way. I really enjoyed our trip, and everyone agreed it was an afternoon well spent. It was a really interactive experience, and it was a great way for the Politics students to see the centre of government in the UK.
