This Wednesday, the Classics department ran its annual Lauda Sion spoken Latin competition. Years 7, 8 and 9 performed a series of dramatic pieces which they have been rehearsing in their Latin lessons for the past few weeks. This is the first time we have been able to run the contest since the pandemic began, so the atmosphere for Lauda Sion MMXXII was even more electric than usual.

The pupils from each teaching group gave excellent performances. They showed off their Latin pronunciation, dramatic acting and costume making skills. There were so many creative outfits, including one memorable performance involving a toga, fake beard, wig and a hockey stick!

Well done to Alice Langellier in Year 9, who gave the strongest performance of the day! Congratulations as well to the pupils from 7Y, 8X and 9X who won their year group prizes. We hope that everyone had a great time. At FHS, lingua Latina est aeterna, non mortua.
