During the first week of the half term holiday, ten girls from Year 9 were hosted by families and girls of our sister school in New York City, The Hewitt School, during the first part of our popular Hewitt Exchange Programme.
Our girls were welcomed on Saturday evening and spent a busy Sunday taking in the sights and getting to know their new families. We began bright and early on Monday morning for a visit to the Museum of Modern Art, via a gentle stroll through Central Park, and followed this with an afternoon experiencing lessons in an American High School.
On Tuesday, girls visited Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty alongside the 8th Grade Hewitt Students and on Wednesday were incredibly moved by their visit to the 9/11 memorial and museum.
On Thursday, we were taken out of the city to visit Eleanor RooseveltĀs house and museum in Hyde Park, before spending our last day having a wonderful tour of the High Line and Chelsea with our inimitable tour guide ĀUncle JerryĀ.
The girls all made the most of their unique opportunity to visit such an iconic city and were excellent ambassadors for the school.
This cultural exchange will be complemented by a return visit from the Hewitt students and staff in March of 2019. We hope to show them the same level of kindness and hospitality.
