Sixth Form Surf & Yoga Trip to Fuerteventura

07/01/2026

We were surprised to arrive in Fuerteventura and be met by “the storm of the century”. It did rain a lot considering we were in a desert, but we made the most of it with some highly competitive bowling in place of the first surf lesson. For the rest of the week, though, the sun came out and the waves were perfect for surfing. The girls made amazing progress throughout the week, some catching wave after gnarly wave.

As well as the surfing, we enjoyed a whole range of wonderful experiences. A spectacular catamaran trip around Lobos Island was a highlight. Star-gazing on the beach with powerful telescopes helped us to observe Jupiter’s moons, Saturn’s rings, and the Andromeda galaxy as well as shooting stars and a spectacular fire-ball across the night sky. Two fantastic yoga sessions helped us to stretch and recover from the surfing. Jewellery making, beach games, sunset mocktails, football with the locals and exploring the town of El Cotillo all helped to make the week a special one. The 20 sixth formers that went experienced a week they won’t forget. Even the rubber duck had a good time (you had to be there!).
