Determined not to miss one of the sporting highlights of the year, the FHS PE Department ran a virtual sports week in aid of Sports Day.

In conjunction with the Youth Sports Trusts National Schools Sports Week, this event celebrated the power of sport in bringing together pupils, staff and friends of the FHS community during a time of social distancing.

The FHS Isolation Games consisted of fun challenges completed both at school and at home. The sun was shining in all its glory and laughter and cheers could be heard by all as girls in Years 7-9 took part in socially distanced, interactive, friendly and competitive challenges. A tremendous effort was made by all, and special mention must go to Lotus D’Cruz Edeko in Year 7 for achieving the highest number of ‘tap ups’ on a tennis racket, as well as to Minty Thiel on the hockey stick and Maria Reznikovich on the rounders bat.

The teachers must also be commended for their contributions to our first virtual sports week. Whether it was Mr Edes walking and singing to Amarillo for the ‘How far’ challenge, Dr Upcott balancing with his son on his shoulders or Dr Hayes balancing a very heavy Latin dictionary on his head, a fantastic effort has been made by all to get active and earn those all important House points! The Hamlyn family have also been particularly active over the last few days, with their cricket and high jumping in the park, earning many points for Woolf.

We have extended the deadline for parent entries until Sunday at 4.00pm. This will allow parents and families the opportunity to attempt the challenges together this weekend. All challenge videos and forms can be accessed here and check out the FHS sports twitter for highlights. The results announcement will be made in the Monday morning assembly.
