After a busy fortnight back on site at FHS, you might be starting to think about some well-earned rest and relaxation? The Year 12 Chemists have been working hard to support you, extracting an uplifting essential oil from orange peel. Just what you need to pop into your cold-water diffuser!

Essential oils are compounds that can be extracted from plants by a process known as steam distillation. The oils capture the plant’s aroma. The latin name for the essential oil extracted from oranges is citrus sinensis. The chemical name is limonene.

Feeling inspired? Orange essential oil blends perfectly with lemon, vetiver and frankincense, and is said to help to support your body’s detoxification process and ease digestive discomfort.
