We are delighted that this superb cohort of FHS girls have emerged from this crisis with a set of grades that does justice to their resilient approach and academic commitment and ability. After many twists and turns, resulting in not a little anxiety, the decision was finally made to award candidates the highest result of either the Centre Assessment Grade (produced by the school) or the Calculated Grade. We think this is the best outcome possible for the FHS class of 2020 under the circumstances and the grades rightly reflect the strong academic performance of recent years, with even a slight increase on the number of top grades (9-8) awarded. The consistency of these grades with the performance of recent years reflects the accuracy and fairness of our teachers' assessments. In particular, from a year group of 54, 6 girls have been awarded straight grade 9s and 14 have all 9-8 grades. Of course hidden behind such statistics are some impressive results for girls who have triumphed through the challenges of their personal situations and we are thrilled for them. We are so fortunate to have truly outstanding heads of department and teaching staff who have demonstrated the most incredible versatility and resilience over the past few months in working together to produce such pleasing outcomes.
