As part of Expeditions Week, Year 7 are undertaking a bushcrafting trip in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Follow below for updates…

28/06/2021 – 7.30pm
Today Year 7 arrived safely at camp. We’ve already learnt how to build a fire (in the rain!) and successfully cooked our own burgers. Although we have our own wonderful tents, we’ve also learnt how to build shelters and have begun rehearsing for the tribe talent show later this week.

29/06/2021 – 11.46am
After a dry first night in the camp, this morning Year 7 were treated to a huge cooked breakfast! Later we’ll be cooking our own pizzas so first thing this morning we were off to collect wood for the fires. We even came across Toby the frog who spent a while making friends with Mia! After stocking up our fire supplies we have been whittling pencils, creating field bracelets and learning forest first aid ready for our challenge this afternoon. For now we are off to learn about forest camouflage before our next game!

29/06/2021 – 12.48pm
Alys found a fresh antler in the woods – check out the photos below! Mr Trussell and Miss Allen got stuck in to preparing the salmon for lunch and some the Year 7s even volunteered to try fish eyes! The girls have camouflaged themselves ready for stealth games in the woods this afternoon. We are excited for pizzas for dinner.

29/06/2021 – 2.59pm
After learning about (and covering themselves in!) camouflage, Year 7 have been rehearsing more for the tribe talent show. Each tribe now has their very own flag!

30/06/2021 – 8.46am
After a quiet night’s sleep this morning we were greeted with pancakes ready for another busy day. We’ll be going for a wilderness walk, trying archery and axe throwing and doing an SOS scenario to put our First Aid skills from yesterday to the test!

30/06/2021 – 2.50pm
After our tasty breakfast we tried our hand at archery and axe throwing (Mr Cawley even had a go!) and out our First Aid skills to the test while rescuing casualties from a ‘plane crash’. Now we’ve had a warming curry lunch and are about to go for a wilderness walk!

30/06/21 – 7.57pm
After some year group games of tug of war and making our own dinner this evening we embarked on an epic competition: Tribes got Talent! Each tribe performed a show item to represent their tribe, whether a play, song, dance or a total surprise! Guest judges treated us to some hilarious commentary and we made some fabulous memories.

30/06/21 – 10.15pm
Congratulations to Birtle the Turtle who were victorious!

01/07/21 – 9.38am
This morning after cleaning our tents we had a yummy breakfast of berries and granola yoghurt. Then we had our awards ceremony including ‘most muddy’, ‘star bushcrafter’ and awards for all of the 7 C’s.

01/07/21 – 2:05pm

Year 7 are onboard the coaches and on their way back from Bushcraft in Northamptonshire. We’re looking forward to reuniting with our families after a fun-filled four days away!
