Will van der Hart spoke to Year 7 and 8 in Life Skills this week about Resilience ahead of Expeditions Week. An experienced leadership wellbeing coach and author, including co authoring a Mind Fuel for Young Explorers with Bear Grylls, he prepared them for their coming adventure. Will explained the difference between being brittle or bending in the face of challenges, helping to face their fears and do it anyway, including the importance of understanding anxiety will reduce overtime. He explained the importance of looking after themselves during easier times, making a few tiny changes in their everyday lives that will pay off in the long run. Finally, Will emphasised the importance of sharing the load and taking a break to look after themselves. The students left the talk excited for expeditions and with lots of useful tools to help embrace the week ahead.
