On Tuesday evening, the Senior Hall buzzed with nervous excitement.

Year 3 began the evening with a potted version of Alice in Wonderland. The seven Alices took us on a journey through Wonderland, drinking potions, answering the ‘why?’ from the caterpillar, drinking tea with the Mad Hatter, and getting caught up in the crime of painting the roses red with the Queen of Hearts. It was a delight to see. Our youngest actors performed with confidence. We definitely saw some stars of the future!

After a short break, the action continued with a series of monologues, duologues and small group performances. We were treated to scenes from Shakespeare, Roald Dahl, Peter Pan and Hansel and Gretel. The Year 4 girls demonstrated skill and confidence. This was a great opportunity for them to work in smaller groups to showcase their talent.

Finally, the Year 5 girls began their performance with a loud chant of ‘Caesar! Caesar! Caesar!’. Their performance of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar was a fantastic showcase of all the work they have been doing this term. They have studied the play in English, taken part in workshops with Shakespeare’s Globe and rehearsed the play in Drama, all helping them demonstrate an excellent understanding of the play. Their line learning was phenomenal and their delivery clear, confident and impressively mature.
