During their science lessons this half term, Year 2 have been busy tending to their own playground allotment and on Wednesday morning they were finally able to enjoy some of the spoils.

At the beginning of the school day, when the leaves were still fresh and crisp, the girls harvested their delicious butterhead lettuce, rinsed it carefully and used it to fill scrumptious sandwiches. The girls have loved the experience of growing their own food and learning about the many benefits of looking after an allotment. They have been so enthusiastic and full of intrigue. Fingers crossed that when we return to school in September there might still be some carrots, tomatoes, radishes and beans to enjoy!
