Year 1 were lucky with the weather this week on their sunny trip to Kew Gardens to learn about the seasons and weather. They went on a scavenger hunt for different natural materials and found a variety of textures, shapes and colours. They discussed what happens to plants in each season and learnt about Deciduous and Evergreen trees. In the afternoon, Year 1 learnt about standard and non-standard methods of measuring the weather and used a variety of techniques including a windsock and anemometer to measure wind speed, as well as the Okta scale to measure cloud cover. Following a wonderful day of learning, they were able to spend time letting off steam in the outdoor play area. A wonderful time was had by all and we certainly have some budding meteorologists in the class!
