On Thursday 16th June, Lower VI headed off to Italy for a spectacularly sunny Maths trip to Tuscany, where they visited Pisa and Florence. On the first day, they visited the infamous Campanile of Pisa Cathedral – more commonly known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa! They then embarked on a short journey to the renaissance capital of the world: Florence, a city famous for its developments in maths, science, culture and the arts. They delved into the life and legacy of Galileo at the Galileo Museum and strolled the cobbled streets of the city, including the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge. Finally, they enjoyed pizzas in Piazza San Marco and visited the interactive Leonardo da Vinci Museum, which houses several fully functional machines and inventions by the great renaissance polymath. A fabulous time was had by all.
