In the week that we returned to school, it was particularly wonderful to see music flourishing, with many girls from Years 1-6 taking part in the Fanny Davies Music Festival. We were treated to performances on a range of instruments and in a variety of musical styles. There is so much musical talent and promise rising through our Junior School and this was very much on display throughout the festival. We are so grateful to Miss Vickery, Director of Music, for adjudicating the classes and offering valuable encouragement and advice to all our performers (as well as chocolate eggs!)

Thank you so much to everyone who performed and took part in the Festival. After a year in which live music-making has been difficult, it was truly special for us all to be able to hear live music. The girls were also able to gain essential performance experience, sharing what they had worked so hard to practise and prepare through the months at home.

The festival concluded on Tuesday with a marvellous celebration concert showcasing the winners and the runners up of each class. All performed with poise and confidence and did very well indeed.

This year, the ‘Musician of the Year’ was awarded to Cindy Van Rooyen for her flawless and powerful performance of Carl Bohm’s ‘Introduction and Polonaise’ on the violin. Many congratulations to Cindy!
