On Thursday, Years 1, 2 and 3 went on their very first Francis Holland Foresters trip to Norbury Park in Surrey.

They spent a wonderful day completing a variety of rope crafts, to tick off their Wild Passport bushcraft objectives, followed by an afternoon of curriculum linked outdoor learning.  Year 1 have been studying Flat Stanley in English this half term and so spent the morning making Flat Stanley kites out of paper, sticks and natural materials.  Despite the lack of wind, they had a great time running as fast as they could to get their kites off the ground!  In the afternoon they furthered their mathematical measurement work by mixing their own ‘Kindness Soup’ carefully measuring different natural materials and using their mathematical vocabulary.  Year 2 had a great time studying their class text, making George’s Marvellous Medicine out of natural materials and completing some of their own natural artwork, wrapping sticks.  Year 3 had a “blast”, building their own firework rockets from their class text, The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, and setting them off using vinegar and baking soda.  During the day, all of the classes were lucky to enjoy a special treat of a hot chocolate and marshmallows around the fire.

A great day was had by all, and the girls showed excellent resilience and teamwork!
