Quick fire debate, roars of laughter and a cacophony of clinking glass wear, echoed down Graham Terrace on Monday night, as the FHS PA launched the 2024/25 calendar of events with Quiz Night. This hotly contested, sell-out event, raised funds for the Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank. Eleven teams of ambitious parents took on the formidable might of the FHS Teacher’s Table. Ultimately, victory was snatched from the parents in a double tie-breaker that saw Mrs Haydon take to the stage, in a final death heat, with the Year 9 Ada Lovelace table.
Music scholar Mika Bianchi, Year 12, welcomed guests with her soulful jazz-folk vocals and acoustic guitar. A sumptuous buffet followed the welcome drinks and an enormous thanks is due to FHS’ fabulous catering team. The charismatic power pairing of Miss Vyas and Mr Galloway captivated the room, presiding over the Quiz, taking guests through seven fast paced rounds including science, sport and entertainment. Phil Storey, Chief Executive, Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank delivered a moving interval presentation on the work of the Foobank and those in desperate need. Year 12 students acted as table hosts and quiz markers and are owed a great deal of thanks for the poise, precision, and passion that made the evening run smoothly. Thank you, girls!
This was the closest Quiz Night yet between staff and parents. Here’s to Quiz 2025 and the parents reclaiming the title of Quiz Champions!
