On Monday 24th June, our intrepid girls set off from Battersea Park to various locations across the country to participate in Expeditions Week.
Our Year 7 girls visited Duddings, Somerset, where they took part in a range of activities, including mountain biking, SUP boarding, willow weaving and tree climbing. In Moat Wood, Essex, our Year 8 students enjoyed a woodland adventure, with activities such as banana boating, archery and den building, while our Year 9 girls ventured to Stonewall Park, Kent, where they fine-tuned their fire-lighting, campfire cooking and axe throwing skills. Finally, our Year 10 girls set sail on a buccaneer expedition, living aboard yachts and exploring the waterways of the Norfolk Broads.
The trips make every effort to support the “7 C’s” educational framework and seek to develop:
- Confidence – to take risks, be brave, speak out and become independent
- Curiosity – to try new things, explore, question and strive to understand
- Collaboration – to work with others to achieve shared goals, compromising to establish consensus, understanding strengths and skills in oneself and others
- Craftsmanship – to persevere in acquiring a skill or creating an artefact – e.g. carving, drawing, cooking, designing games
- Commitment – to show determination to succeed at challenges, following through on decisions
- Creativity – to be inventive and original in solving problems and asking questions, as well as designing, making and imagining
- Communication – to articulate thoughts and ideas with clarity and confidence, being sensitive to the views and needs of others
