In amongst all the wonderful Platinum Jubilee festivities on the last day before Half Term, Reception found time to celebrate the release of the beautiful painted lady butterflies that they had been patiently watching transform during their science lessons. For weeks, the girls had looked on in awe, as the tiny caterpillars that arrived in school grew and grew, before hiding away in their chrysalides to then emerge in their adult form. Feeling brave, the girls were so excited to hold the butterflies and observe them closely, before they flew off into the flowers of the roof garden in the sunshine. What better way for the girls to learn about life cycles than to watch a metamorphosis happening right before their eyes.
