On Friday 1st March, we celebrated our School’s 138th Birthday in true Francis Holland style!
The festivities began with our annual church celebration, where girls decorated themselves with hundreds of daffodils and heartily sang a number of hymns as well as the School anthem.
Afterwards, the girls filled the sidelines of our netball court ready for the eagerly awaited staff versus students netball match. There were many chants and cheers from Juniors to Sixth Formers alike. The fierce game resulted in an 8 – 4 victory to the girls, although the staff have promised that they will train harder than ever for next year’s fixture!
Following the netball match, the Junior School took part in their surprise entertainment, which consisted of singing, dancing and eating colourful cupcakes. Meanwhile, the Senior School enjoyed thrilling entertainment by magician Maximilian Somerset, who brought along his goldfish, milk receptacle and a shockingly uncomfortable chair!
It has been an exciting day at the School, and a perfect way to bring the Francis Holland School Community together.
Happy Birthday, Francis Holland!
