Building for The Future

Home>Support Us>Past Projects>Building for The Future

In 2016 we began an ambitious project which has now transformed the footprint of our school. This landmark development has provided a tranquil rooftop garden, state-of-the-art facilities and several beautiful new spaces in which our pupils can be innovative, creative and enterprising.

We are delighted with the results of the Building for the Future campaign to date, however, we are determined to continue to build for the future and have many exciting developments planned that will enhance our wonderful school further still.

The generosity shown by our donor community has been overwhelming.

Anyone who wishes to have a small tour, please do not hesitate to contact the Development Office via email.

Built in the space previously occupied by the underutilised courtyard, the Centre for Creative Learning houses the library and provides both internal and external space for inspired learning and reflection. The new library comes equipped with a Smart Board and four computers for individual study.

The Rooftop Garden provides a tranquil space for quiet contemplation and relaxation for girls of all ages. The space includes:

  • A water feature, donated by the Dare Patterson Family
  • The Bug Hotel, donated by the Davenport Family
  • The Edible Garden, donated by the Di Flumeri Family
  • The Fundraising Tree, donated by the Old Girls’ Society with Fundraising Leaves donated across the School community

The extension and refurbishment of the Morison building provides Francis Holland girls with a larger space where our Sixth Form students are able to study, meet business mentors and prospective work experience employers and seek careers counsel in a dedicated area. The Centre also offers space for interview practice and CV presentation, and the new internal layout provides additional classroom space on the ground floor where girls are able to learn and develop their entrepreneurial and design and technology skills.

Based in the Centre of Creative Enterprise, the new Brankovic Fitness Studio houses state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, offering fantastic benefits for Sixth Formers and Staff.

The Kanwar Technology Suite, situated on the 2nd floor of the Studio Extension, is an ICT classroom available to both Juniors and Seniors. The suite comes equipped with:

  • Twenty-six state of the art computers
  • Two traditional laser printers
  • A 3D printer
  • Six Lego Mindstorm robotics kits

The Jo Manoukian Performing Arts Studio comes complete with a specialist sprung floor, ballet barres and mirrored walls which, when curtained, transforms the room into a drama studio. This new space has played host to many rehearsals, from GCSE Drama to the Year 6 Ballet exam practice.

The Wellness Suite houses the wellbeing suite and two further counsellors who offer full-time support to our students throughout the week. This brand new space ensures we are providing a nurturing and caring environment in which our girls can thrive.

This three-storey extension is now complete and provides the following:

  • Ground floor: improved facilities for Reception and Year One plus a permanent wellbeing suite where all girls can speak confidentially with a qualified counsellor.
  • First floor: a dedicated performing arts space for all girls, enhancing our dance, drama and movement provision.
  • Second floor: an ICT lab for all pupils, allowing for the expansion of digital technology – web design, app building, robotics and coding.

As our girls grow and develop so do we! Our new roof extension is complete and provides a new staffroom for our Junior School staff.

Francis Holland School Sloane Square Building for the Future fund

Francis Holland School Sloane Square is a very successful and ambitious school on a constrained central London site.  The object of this Fund is to support the improvement of its facilities by the imaginative development of its site and surroundings, in order to offer girls the best all-round education in the most effective setting.

Its primary object is to support the ‘Building for the Future’ project.  This aims particularly to develop pupil creativity at all ages, by improving access to literature and opportunities for learning, drawing and performance, and, for the more senior students, by encouraging enterprise, scientific research and design technology.  The project also underlines that the School is outward looking.  It has for some time been under active consideration by Governors, the management team, and friends and supporters of the School.  The Governors are committed to investing a substantial sum from School resources for this project.

The Fund will remain in existence in the longer term in order to help with the School’s continuing development.
