Wellbeing

On Wednesday mornings, the Senior School meet for an hour for their Wellbeing lessons. The programme is devised with a whole school approach so that topics are age appropriate and readdressed when required.

Our Wellbeing lessons cover Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, including Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), which are a statutory part of the curriculum for all schools. Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is compulsory in Senior Schools.

On Wednesday mornings, all pupils in the Senior School meet for an hour for their Wellbeing lessons where we cover the PSHE and RSE curriculum. The programme is devised with a whole school approach and is in line with government guidelines so that topics are age appropriate and sensitively taught. We adjust the programme as the year progresses to respond to the needs of our pupils, but a general overview of the areas that the Wellbeing sessions cover across the academic year can be found here .

These classes are delivered predominantly in the form rooms by the tutors, who know the pupils well and can create a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment for discussions and questions. This programme is supported by specialist external speakers, such as the Breck Foundation and Talk Consent, as well as internal staff presentations where the topic is an area of expertise. Examples of this, include a Biology Teacher leading on puberty and our Director of Futures, leading on Careers. Parts of the RSE programme are led by an external specialist provider, ā€˜Esteem’ (a branch of Acet UK), who are fully in line with our Christian Ethos.

Our Wellbeing lessons all have the same aim of empowering the pupils with common sense skills so that they can navigate the challenges of everyday life.
