On Wednesday mornings, the Senior School meet for an hour for their Wellbeing lessons. The programme is devised with a whole school approach so that topics are age appropriate and readdressed when required.
These classes are delivered predominantly in their form rooms by their tutors, who know the students well and can create a comfortable and inclusive environment for discussion and questions. This is supported by specialist external speakers and internal staff presentations where the topic is an area of expertise, such as biology teachers leading on puberty. They cover a programme of Personal, Social and Health Economic Education (PSHE) and Relationship and Sexual Health Education (RSE). Parts of the RSE programme are led by an external specialist provider, Esteem (a branch of Acet UK), who are fully in line with our Christian ethos.
Our speaker programme is highly valued by the girls. We have had speakers including the Breck Foundation discussing online grooming, Talk Consent educating about female empowerment and consent and the Met Police educating on staying safe both online and offline.
Wellbeing lessons all have the same aim of empowering teenagers with common sense skills in order to take care of themselves as they go through this challenging time in their lives.
We adjust the programme as the year progresses to respond to the needs of our students. The overview of the 2024-2025 academic year can be found here.
