Year 9 had their Wellbeing session run by Adwoa Aboah from GURLS. Talia has shared her experience below;
“On Wednesday, we had a talk from GURLS TALK which is a charity run by model, Adwoa Aboah. Adwoa has appeared on the face of British Vogue, as well as on the cover of American Vogue, Vogue Italia and Vogue Poland. We had a talk at the beginning about her life before modelling, where we learnt all about how she struggled to fit in and the many other character building experiences she went through. After the talk, we did some activities based on being more comfortable with ourselves, our feelings, and sharing how we feel. These included describing our feelings as weather and expressing our feelings as colours. We were also given some ideas to take home, as ways to cope with our feelings. I certainly found Adwoa’s visit very inspiring, as did the rest of Year 9. It was one of our favourite Wellbeing sessions as we all loved talking to her and learning from her experiences.”
It was lovely watching all the Year 9 pupils come out of their shell and express their feelings with colour and words. Thank you to the GURLS team for such an enriching experience!
