On Tuesday 29th November, Year 8 set out on the tube to the Museum of London with their Latin teachers to learn more about the development of London before and after the Romans arrived. This trip was a timely one; the Museum of London is closing on Sunday until it reopens in a nearby location in 2026! In between the rest of their Tuesday lessons, pupils got to see in great detail how ancient Britons lived, worshipped and relaxed. Dates were noted down, models pointed at, and discussions had about how much Roman Britannia was different from, well, pre-Roman Britannia. On the tube ride home, pupils were keenly discussing the types of housing the Britons used, or which Roman gods and goddesses they would have worshipped if they had lived in that time period. The Classics department hopes that all of Year 8 enjoyed their brief excursion to the Museum of London this week, and that this trip sparks numerous conversations at home and in class about how the Romans lived.
