Last Friday, the whole of Year 7 went to Battersea Park to take part in bonding day. Luckily for us, we had a beautiful sunny day. We walked in pairs, chatting the whole way there. When we arrived, we were separated into our Houses and told what our activities would be. As we walked to Battersea Park, I felt quite worried that I would have to sit out for some of the activities because I had stupidly twisted my ankle by running down the stairs the day before. But actually I had no need to worry.
I think if I had to describe my favourite activity, it would be one called “Global Warming”. There were five hexagonal islands, and 2 planks of wood. We had to get the whole team to the last island. Every team member needed to touch each island, and we all had to carry two planks of wood between the team, to make bridges between islands. The rules were, you couldn’t touch the floor or jump, and the planks needed to be kept off the ground at all times. As we tried to make our way along the course, we dropped the planks a few times, fell off the bridges, laughed a lot, but ultimately we worked as a team and got to the end successfully. I really enjoyed Bonding Day; it was full of fun and mind–puzzling problems. I met lots of new girls and made some new friends! It was a great atmosphere, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves – the air was full of laughter, screaming, shouting (in a fun way) and team spirit.
At the end of Bonding Day, the leaders announced which House had won. However, actually, as I looked around, I thought we were all winners to be going to Francis Holland, Sloane Square, and to be part of such a great group of Year 7s.
