On Friday 2nd May, Year 11 parents, pupils and staff gathered in St Mary’s Church, Bourne Street, for a very special celebration of the girls’ countless individual and collective achievements and endeavours over the past five years.
Our Head, Mrs Haydon, discussed how Year 11 are an absolute credit to FHS and everything that the school stands for; highlighting their talent, creativity, hard work and kindness. She encouraged them to reflect on their journey to this point in their school career and to acknowledge a new beginning, filled with endless possibilities and boundless potential. Miss James, Head of Year 11, discussed how the girls have brought so much to life at FHS, whether it’s been on the sports pitch, in rehearsals, during trips, in the lab, or in the heart of the classroom, and how, from putting up tents in the Lake District to pushing each other to brave the high ropes in Morzine, and in the small, unseen moments of kindness they have shown every day, they have lived out the true spirit of this school.
As well as the ceremonial giving of prizes for attainment and progress, the service included pupils’ reflections on their time at FHS, magnificent musical performances (including a spirited rendition of One Direction’s History by the entire year group, as is tradition!), and a moving closing prayer by our Chaplain, Revd. van der Hart.
We are enormously proud of all the girls, we wish them every bit of luck for their upcoming exams, and we look forward to welcoming them back to the Old School House in September for the next exciting chapter of their education.
