On Thursday 17th January, journalist and author Kate Leaver spoke at our Sixth Form Speaker Programme.
During her talk on friendship and loneliness, she outlined some interesting facts to our girls. For instance, Kate highlighted that loneliness has the equivalent effect on our health as smoking fifteen cigarettes a day and that we only have 150 people in our social circle at any given time. Using anecdotes and speaking from her own personal experience, Kate discussed the importance of maintaining normal and long distance friendships and relationships. Overall, it was an eye-opening and thought-provoking talk. Sixth Formers will be sure to put Kate’s advice into practice.
