We were honoured to welcome Helen Evenden to our Sixth Form Speaker Programme. As a curator, writer, and lecturer in design and architecture, Helen brought a wealth of insight and experience to us.

Helen’s career spans academia, education, and exhibition curation. She has served as a Visiting Design Scholar at Yale University’s School of Architecture, co-leading the ‘London Calling’ course on preparing young architects for cultural venue design competitions. She was also the V&A Scholar in History of Design at the Royal College of Art and later worked with the Helen Hamlyn/Design Council on improving automotive design briefs.

As Head of Education at the Design Museum, Helen established children’s workshops and curated acclaimed exhibitions such as E-Type: Story of a British Sports Car and When Flaminio Drove to France. She also collaborated with Lord Foster on Motion, Autos, Art, and Architecture for the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

Helen’s talk offered a fascinating look into the intersections of design, education, and cultural curation. Her reflections on the evolving role of design in shaping society were especially thought-provoking.

We are truly grateful to Helen for sharing her time and expertise with us—her visit was as inspiring as it was informative.
