On Tuesday, the LVI History of Art students visited the V&A museum, to refresh our Visual Analysis skills. We examined works in the medieval, sculpture and cast galleries. This helped us to broaden our contextual knowledge of different periods in art history, as well as develop our visual skills through analysing works outside the curriculum. This included wooden depictions of the crucifixion and sculptures by Canova and Rodin. This trip allowed us to gain a more holistic understanding of the works and periods we study, while also introducing us to works such as Michelangelo’s David, which we will study in the future.
