While we have been feeling completely Legally Blonde this week and would thoroughly recommend listening to the soundtrack on repeat (like we have), this is something a little different. Laura Bell Bundy was the original Elle Woods in the first production of Legally Blonde, on Broadway. Bundy, a celebrated country & western singer in the US, shot into the limelight with her soaring, powerful vocals as the lead in the hit musical and launched a successful solo career.

Many of her songs have positive and uplifting messages with original songs particularly highlighting themes such as female empowerment and gender equality. This radical cover of the Cindy Lauper classic – ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ – takes the sparky and poppy original and transforms it into this thoughtful, soulful and emotional ballad. Enjoy an alternative take on the message of the song which shines a different light on the text so closely associated to the dance classic. Here’s to the brilliant voice of the original ‘Legally Blonde’!
