Over the Easter break, our Year 10 Geography students enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Iceland.

On Friday 19th April, our intrepid geographers set off from Heathrow Airport, arriving at Keflavík International Airport in the mid-afternoon. They then made their way to Reykjavík, the country’s capital and largest city.

On the first day of the tour, our girls visited Strokkur, an erupting geyser, and Gullfoss, a vast and powerful waterfall. They then continued to the Seljalandfoss and Glufrafoos waterfalls, where they explored the enormous caves.

The next day, pupils visited Eldraun, the world’s largest lava field. This was followed by a trip to the glacier at Vatnajokull – the largest icecap in Iceland which has an area 11 times greater than London. The day concluded with a visit to to Fjallsaron and Jokularson, the famous iceberg lagoons.

On their last full day in Iceland, our girls returned to Reykjavík. They stopped to see the Skógafoss waterfall and the Blue Lagoon, a naturally heated geothermal spa.

On Tuesday 23rd April, after four full days of sightseeing, our girls arrived back in London with fond memories of this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
