In mid-March, we welcomed ten Year 9 pupils and staff from the Hewitt School in New York.
The visit marked the return leg of our Hewitt Exchange Programme: a week of cultural activities in London and a taste of a British school, kindly hosted by FHS parents. This follows our successful trip to New York in October of 2018.
Our guests have enjoyed a variety of cultural sights and experiences around London, including a trip to the V&A museum, a boat ride along the Thames to the Tower of London, and the experience of ‘getting lost in Westfield’, which seems to be a bit of a rite of passage!
We are incredibly grateful to our host families for their kindness and generosity in hosting these students who will no doubt remember their week in London forever. Our girls commented on the challenges and rewards of hosting a friend from across the pond and noted that, though we share a language, our cultures can be quite different. Girls understaff the importance of being sensitive to other cultures if we are to show true empathy and kindness.
