The EPQ Presentation Evening is the culmination of over a year’s work for those girls who have completed an Extended Project.
Xorsheed began the evening with a zap of energy as she explained how she created a functional prototype of a hydroelectric generator entirely of her own invention. Anne illuminated the audience on the many theories on our brain’s ability to bounce back over time, speaking knowledgeably and empathetically about the dementia patients she had met.
Olivia presented on the fascinating phenomenon of phantom limb pain, linking causes to possible treatments. Emily tackled a big question by interrogating no lesser scholars than Freud and Feuerback’s views on religion. Daisie ended the evening by presenting her beautiful original composition, inspired by the work of Ludovico Einaudi and based on an in-depth survey of emotional responses to different musical techniques.
The audience was left thoroughly impressed by the creativity and scholarly rigour of these young women. Their special thanks to the EPQ supervisors and their classroom teachers brought home once again what a supportive place FHS is for independent, entrepreneurial spirits.
