Last week saw the launch of our battle against Fast Fashion, the phenomenon where we buy clothes cheaply, where them once or twice and then discard them.
We aim to support sustainable fashion, and a representative of Synchronicity Earth came in to assembly on Tuesday 14th May to highlight the issues surrounding fashion and the environment.
On Friday 17th May, we asked girls to come in to school wearing either clothes they had made themselves or old clothes they had acquired from a charity shop or a relative. We also ran our first “Clothes Swap”, where girls bought in old clothes they no longer wanted and then exchanged for something they liked. It was a great success and we hope to run it again at next year.
All proceeds from the clothes swap and the mufti day went to Christian Aid’s Big Shift appeal, which helps to support girls of school age in poorer countries to achieve their dreams.
