On the evening of Thursday 16th May, Year 12 took over the school. Parents, siblings, friends and teachers streamed to the Senior Hall, where a wonderful tea was laid out, and excitement buzzed at the Presentation Evening for the Extended Project Qualification.

The EPQ allows a Sixth Form student to explore one topic in depth, with the aim to create either a 5,000 word essay or an “artefact”, which could be anything from a science experiment to a novel. This is the first year we have challenged Year 12 to complete their projects in a single year, and they more than rose to the occasion. In fact, more than 30 girls will be completing an EPQ this year and six groups of girls presented in rooms all over the school.

The Presentations are part of the project, which is assessed on organisation, research, problem-solving and communication, but they are also an opportunity to celebrate the girls’ hard work. With music, geography, fashion, medicine, history, and many other fields represented, it was a real festival of ideas.
