On Friday 30th November, we held our much anticipated Christmas Fair, our biggest and best yet!

With over fourteen stalls, and even a (rather Christmassy) “Sumo Wrestling Challenge”, girls from Y7-Y13 raised over £1,100 for The Katherine Low Settlement and various charitable causes chosen by the girls themselves. Fair stalwarts (pun intended) like “The Makery” and “Mrs Bannister’s Knitwear” were besieged with customers looking for Christmas gifts, and popular stalls such as “The Environment Society’s Sweet Shop” were sold out in minutes! One particular highlight was the idiosyncratic sport of “Ruler Flicking”, invented by plucky Year 8 girls Cosima Reed and Lina Colas. Returning for a second triumphant year, this new sport was a surprise success. With the wonderful marshaling expertise of Mrs Marshall and Dr Marshall, “Ruler Flicking” raised over £100 on its own, which is remarkable! There certainly isn’t a more excellent demonstration of the creativity and enterprise of FHS girls!
