On Tuesday 13th September, Wanda Petrusewicz came in to speak to the girls as part of our programme of Career Conversations.

Wanda has 30 years experience in radio, newsrooms and current affairs and has worked alongside top news presenters such as Laura Kuenssberg and Lyse Doucet. She is a Managing Editor, journalist and broadcaster for the BBC. Her talk covered her experiences working for the BBC, Apprenticeships, work experience opportunities, and advice on how to approach a career in journalism. She explained that, in many cases, it is not an individual’s degree subject that is most important, but rather their real world experience, be that working for a local radio station or being a part of a University society. Wanda mentioned several individuals who started at the bottom, worked hard, and are today famous news presenters.

Wanda’s talk was both hugely inspirational and jam packed with practical, real world advice and was very well received by all who attended.
