Year 1 have been very artistic this week, completing wonderful artwork in their History and RE lessons. In RE they learnt all about the celebration of Hanukkah and made their own Hanukkiah’s using handprints. They also spent time learning about Remembrance Day and making poppy prints using apples dipped in paint. In English this week they wrote some beautiful Remembrance Day poetry about peace and what it means to them. Here are some of their wonderful extracts:
Peace feels like you are petting a rabbitÂ
Peace looks like the sun is shining
Peace smells like poppy flowersÂ
Peace sounds like birds chirping in the treesÂ
By Caroline
Peace feels like a swirl of happiness and a little bit of sadness because the soldiers died
Peace looks like a hundred poppies growingÂ
Peace smells like roses and poppiesÂ
Peace sounds like baby animals and birds squeakingÂ
Peace sounds like everybody laughing at Battersea ParkÂ
By Hope
Peace feels like happiness
Peace feels like I am sitting on a cloudÂ
Peace smells like fresh grassÂ
Peace sounds quietÂ
