A group of FHS’s top athletes had the incredible opportunity to take part in an elite multi-sports weekend at Millfield Senior School in Somerset. Across two packed days, the girls trained in netball, hockey, cricket, football, squash, and tennis, benefiting from expert coaching and exposure to high-level performance environments. The experience challenged them to develop their skills, adapt to new coaching styles, and gain valuable insights into elite sport.

A key highlight of the trip was the opportunity to witness Millfield’s dynamic sports culture in action. The girls enjoyed watching a variety of live competitions, including netball, rugby, swimming county championships, and a dressage event. The experience of seeing these athletes perform at such a high level was both inspiring and motivating.

In addition to practical training, the group took part in a fascinating nutrition workshop, learning how to optimise their diet for performance and recovery. They also engaged in a dedicated recovery session in the gym, focusing on stretching and foam rolling to enhance mobility and prevent injury, which is an essential part of any athlete’s routine.

The girls were also given an exclusive tour of Millfield’s world-class sporting facilities, including the 50m swimming pool, tennis and squash centre, indoor cricket centre, and the athletics track. Experiencing these outstanding resources firsthand gave them a real appreciation of the training environments available to Millfield’s pupils.

This weekend was an unforgettable experience, offering an exciting combination of skill development, competition, and inspiration. The Millfield coaches were incredibly welcoming, creating a positive and supportive learning environment. A huge thank you to Millfield for providing such a fantastic opportunity. We look forward to seeing how our athletes apply what they have learned as they continue their sporting journeys.
